DIGITAL PROJECTION AT THE ANU FILM GROUP
................................................................

Last night at our 2014 AGM, the ANU Film Group proudly announced that we have just acquired a brand new, state-of-the-art digital projector!

For the past 48 years, we have been screening exclusively from 35mm and 16mm film. But the changing nature of film production, distribution and exhibition globally has meant that, as of 2014, new release films are now being released almost entirely on the digital cinema format. In anticipation of this, we have been working on acquiring digital technology for a number of years, and our new projector is a welcome and long-awaited addition to the Coombs Theatre that we intend to use alongside our trusty 35mm projectors going forward.

Our digital projector will allow us to remain at the forefront of cinema technology and to continue screening the diverse and varied films that our members love for many, many more years to come. We hope that you can join us in sharing in the excitement of this historic change at our first post-AGM digital screening of AMERICAN HUSTLE this Thursday.

WHAT’S ON THIS WEEK
................................................................

** REMINDER: All screenings begin at 7:30 PM, with the exception of Saturday screenings which begin at 7 PM **

Congratulations to all of the winners of the 86th annual Academy Awards. This year's Best Picture winner, 12 YEARS A SLAVE, screens next Thursday on March 13 but first... it's Oscar losers week at the Film Group as we screen two of the year’s most nominated films that sadly went home empty handed!

• Thu 6 Mar @ 7:30 PM: AMERICAN HUSTLE

Two con artists (Christian Bale and Amy Adams) are forced to help an FBI agent (Bradley Cooper) capture criminals to avoid prosecution. Nominated for 10 Oscars, including Best Picture.

• Fri 7 Mar @ 7:30 PM: THE WOLF OF WALL STREET

Leonardo DiCaprio stars in the outrageous true story of a stockbroker whose pursuit of the American Dream leads him to a decadent life of crime and corruption. Nominated for 5 Oscars, including Best Picture.

• Sat 8 Mar @ **7 PM**: ANCHORMAN 2: THE LEGEND CONTINUES followed by THANKS FOR SHARING

Legendary news anchor Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell) and his news team return in ANCHORMAN 2 to take the world's first ever 24-hour news channel by storm.

Then, in THANKS FOR SHARING (at approx. 9 PM), three people with little in common are brought together in their struggle against sex addiction. Starring Mark Ruffalo, Gwyneth Paltrow and Tim Robbins.
