One Week Down + Free Screening of EL DORADO

24th February, 2019

Thank you to everyone who came along and saw a film in our new cinema this week. With eight films screening across six nights, it truly was a bumper – and very busy – first week back!

As we mentioned at the start of the week, there are still a few kinks to be sorted out with the cinema, but work is ongoing and those of you who have been to a few screenings so far will likely have noticed improvements throughout the week. Thank you to everyone for your patience during this process, and especially to those of you who have provided feedback about the new venue so far. Please don’t hesitate to let us know via email to info@anufg.org.au if you’ve noticed or experienced anything amiss!

The Oscars are taking place tomorrow, and then we’ve got a packed Oscar Week with big contenders (and possible winners) coming up next week, including GREEN BOOK, VICE, CAN YOU EVER FORGIVE ME? and our encore screening of SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE.

FREE SCREENING: ‘EL DORADO’ ON MONDAY 25 FEBRUARY @ 7:30 PM
...........................................................

The Embassy of Switzerland is hosting a screening of the award-winning new documentary EL DORADO tomorrow evening in partnership with the ANU Film Group, the ANU Law Reform & Social Justice, Amnesty International Australia and the ANU Centre for European Studies.

This special one-off screening of director Markus Imhoof’s latest film is a celebration of human rights and a reflection on the challenges faced by refugees over the past 70 years. The film draws parallels between the perilous journeys refugees take to reach Europe today and Imhoof’s own childhood through a refugee child taken in by his family during World War II.

DATE: Monday 25 February, 2019 (tomorrow)
TIME: 7:30 PM film start (doors open from 7 PM)
VENUE: Cinema, Cultural Centre (Building 153), Kambri Precinct, ANU

The screening is FREE for all to attend (no ANUFG membership required), but you must register your attendance on EventBrite by going to THIS LINK.
