Semester One ends with BLUE WORLD ORDER + DEADPOOL 2!

13th July, 2018

Canberra’s own movie finally makes its long-awaited debut tonight at the ANU Film Group. Come along and revel in all its sci-fi glory with co-director Ché Baker in attendance to introduce the film and chat about it afterwards!

Then finish up Semester One 2018 on Saturday with none other than the Merc with a Mouth himself in the hilarious and ultra-violent DEADPOOL 2, followed by Steven Soderbergh’s latest, the psychological thriller UNSANE, shot entirely on an iPhone.

And come back on Monday to do it all over again as we kick off Semester Two with a free screening of AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR. Tell your friends (and your enemies) so that they can all check out the year’s biggest film on us! Doors will open for entry at 7 PM, but we recommend arriving early to avoid missing out on a seat – or holding out for the members-only encore screening on Friday 10 August.

• FRI 13 JULY @ 7:30 PM: BLUE WORLD ORDER (M, 117 min) + Q&A

In the aftermath of a nuclear apocalypse, a man (Jake Ryan) desperately seeks a cure for his comatose daughter, unaware that she is the last child on the planet and being sought after by a mysterious organisation. Filmed in Canberra, this ambitious sci-fi adventure also stars Billy Zane, Stephen Hunter, Bruce Spence and Jack Thompson.

Co-director Ché Baker will be in attendance to introduce the film, and for a post-screening Q&A.

• SAT 14 JULY @ ** 7 PM**: DEADPOOL 2 (MA, 119 min) + UNSANE (MA, 98 min)

In this sequel to the foul-mouthed 2016 hit, wisecracking mercenary Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) brings together a team of fellow rogue mutants to protect a superpowered teenager from a time-travelling cyborg named Cable (Josh Brolin) intent on killing him.

Then, Steven Soderbergh's UNSANE (at approx. 9 PM), a young woman (Claire Foy) is involuntarily committed to a mental institution while trying to escape from a stalker. There, she is confronted by her greatest fear – but is the stalker real or a product of her delusion?
