FREE ENLIGHTEN SCREENING: ‘THE SHAPE OF WATER’ ON MARCH 8
................................................................

With a leading 13 nominations and current frontrunner status in a number of categories, including Best Picture, director Guillermo del Toro’s THE SHAPE OF WATER appears to be the film to beat at this year’s Oscars. And we’re excited to announce that we’ll be screening it not just once, but twice, next week!

Our scheduled screening on Saturday 10 March at 7 PM will be business as usual for members, but there will also be a FREE bonus screening on THURSDAY 8 MARCH at 7:30 PM that will be open to the public.

The free screening will be part of ANU Enlighten Minds | Thinking Spaces, which will see the ANU come to life over five thrilling nights with vibrant projections, food stalls and entertainment. Check out the full listing of ANU events by clicking HERE. The overall Enlighten Festival kicks off tonight and runs over 16 days until March 18, showcasing the best of what the nation’s capital has to offer. You can explore Enlighten’s full 2018 line-up at www.enlightencanberra.com

Set in Baltimore in 1962, THE SHAPE OF WATER follows a mute and lonely janitor (Sally Hawkins) working at a high-security government laboratory finds her life changed forever when she discovers and befriends a captured sea creature. What follows is strange, beautiful and unexpected... which just so happens to be this year’s Enlighten theme. Not to be missed!

Tickets are not required for the free screening on Thursday 8 March and entry is on a first come, first served basis, limited to the capacity of the venue (370 seats). ANUFG members may attend both, but are advised to attend the members-only screening on Saturday 10 March where possible to avoid missing out.

Our canteen run by the Rotary Club of Woden Daybreak will also be open on both nights, serving an assortment of popcorn, snacks and drinks with all proceeds going to charity.
