Living in reclusive isolation deep in the lush rainforests of Far North Queensland, Richard Hollingsworth (Anthony Phelan) is a once-revered composer facing the quiet reality of his terminal illness. But Richard's solitary routine is shattered when he suffers from a sudden cardiac arrest and he is unexpectedly saved by his volatile, working-class neighbour Jack (James Ivor). Joined by Carla (Serena ven Sandalwood), a sharp American biographer documenting Richard’s life story, this mismatched trio must then spend a transformative weekend together. Through raw conversations and shared journeys across the rainforest, they confront personal guilt, old trauma, and their uncertain futures.
Co-directed by James Ivor and Eryk Lenartowicz, this intimate Aussie drama offers a poignant exploration of mortality and art set against a breathtaking tropical backdrop. With powerhouse performances and production values, Storm Bird stands as a testament to contemporary Australian independent filmmaking.
