Growing up in an abusive household in Oregon, young Lidia Yuknavitch (Imogen Poots) finds solace in competitive swimming before personal tragedy derails her athletic ambitions. Spiralling into drug addiction, alcoholism, and chaotic relationships, Lidia constantly struggles against grief and self-destruction. Her life begins to shift when she discovers a transformative passion for creative writing and literature under the guidance of empathetic mentors. Through uncensored self-expression, swimming and romance, Lidia gradually reclaims her agency, transforming her painful trauma into powerful art and embarking on an uncompromising journey towards emotional healing.

Actress Kristen Stewart makes her feature directorial debut with this candid biographical drama, adapting Lidia Yuknavitch’s acclaimed 2011 memoir. Premiering in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival, the film garnered strong praise for Imogen Poots' raw lead performance and Stewart’s bold narrative vision.
