PRESENTED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE EMBASSY OF THE REPUBLIC OF NORTH MACEDONIA

Living in a remote Yuruk village in North Macedonia, fifteen-year-old Ahmet (Arif Jakup) feels suffocated by strict local traditions and his father Naim's (Agush Agushev) heavy expectations. Seeking an escape from rural monotony, Ahmet discovers a passion for electronic music and dreams of becoming a professional DJ. His quiet world is transformed when he experiences first love with Aya (Dora Akan Zlatanova), a local girl already promised to another family. Caught between deep communal obligations, forbidden romance, and his creative ambitions, the teenager must find his own rhythm while navigating the conservative values of his isolated community.

Making his feature directorial debut, Macedonian filmmaker Georgi M. Unkovski delivers a charming coming-of-age story that premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival and has since gone on to earn critical acclaim for its warm humour and naturalistic lead performance. A rare treat.
