This imaginative biographical drama explores the everyday realities of modern literature's most enigmatic figure, Franz Kafka (Idan Weiss). Navigating a chaotic household ruled by his overbearing father, Franz balances his mundane daytime duties with his creative passions, finding joy in rowing, close friendships, and romance despite facing constant rejections from the Austrian literary establishment. However, as he struggles to cement his position as a serious writer, a grueling battle with tuberculosis begins to shadow his artistic ambitions. The narrative uniquely juxtaposes his grounded historical life against his massive posthumous legacy, showing a mortal man completely unaware that his private anxieties will one day define the concept of existential absurdity.

Academy Award-nominated Polish director Agnieszka Holland helms this striking international production, which subverts the dark stereotypes surrounding the author, played by relative unknown actor Idan Weiss in a breakthrough performance.
