PRESENTED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE EMBASSY OF PERU
In the lush heart of the Amazon, a spirited Andean bear named Milagros (Melany Segura) lives a life of harmony until a tragic accident leaves her orphaned and alone. Captured by humans and forced to perform in a travelling circus, Milagros finds her vibrant spirit dampened by captivity and the loss of her family. However, her hope is rekindled when she forms an unlikely alliance with a clever little fox. Together, the pair orchestrates a daring escape, embarking on an epic cross-country journey through the Peruvian wilderness to reunite Milagros with her lost brother and reclaim their home.
Directed by Eduardo Schuldt, this enchanting Peruvian animated feature is based on the award-winning book by Hernán Garrido-Lecca, which in turn is based on an incredible true story. In addition to its vibrant animation and heartfelt message about conservation and resilience, the film notably made history as the first animated film certified Climate Positive by the United Nations by offsetting more carbon emissions than it generates and positively impacting the environment.
Note: the film will be screened in its English dubbed version.

PRESENTED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE EMBASSY OF THE KINGDOM OF MOROCCO
María Ángeles (Carmen Maura) is a spirited 79-year-old Spaniard who has lived her entire adult life in the Spanish quarter of Tangier. Her serene existence is abruptly threatened when her daughter, Clara (Marta Etura), arrives from Madrid with plans to sell the family’s historic apartment. Refusing to be displaced, María embarks on a quiet but defiant rebellion, enlisting a colourful cast of local friends to help her protect her home and memories. Along the way, she discovers that age is no barrier to new beginnings, unexpectedly finding room for romance and a renewed sense of sensuality in the sun-drenched Moroccan streets.
This heartwarming drama marks the third feature from acclaimed Moroccan filmmaker Maryam Touzani (The Blue Caftan). Starring the legendary Carmen Maura, a frequent collaborator of Pedro Almodóvar, the film has been widely praised by critics for its tender portrayal of ageing and its vibrant, nostalgic love letter to the multicultural heritage of Tangier.
