Shifting gears from The Bear to The Boss, Jeremy Allen White stars as a young Bruce Springsteen in this chronicle of the making of his seminal 1982 album, Nebraska. The film finds the musician on the brink of global superstardom but choosing instead to reconcile his past and his complicated relationship with his father (Stephen Graham). The end result was the creation of one of Springsteen’s most introspective, challenging and enduring works: a stark, sombre acoustic record depicting the challenging lives of blue-collar workers.

Director Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart, Black Mass) is no stranger to cradle-to-the-grave narratives, but eschews the traditional biopic structure here for a more in-depth look at a pivotal period in time in Springsteen’s life.
