16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence is a global annual campaign led by UN Women, with the aim of raising awareness of and preventing violence against women and girls. The campaign runs every year from the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on November 25 to Human Rights Day on December 10. The ANU Film Group is proud to be supporting this campaign in 2025 by hosting four FREE film screenings about equality and women’s rights during the 16 Days.

In a nation where educating girls is seen as rebellion, Roya Mahboob (Nikohl Boosheri), a brave young Afghan tech entrepreneur, defies tradition – not to mention fathers and uncles – to recruit high school girls to learn robotics. The film chronicles the journey of this highly skilled team of ""rule breakers"" as their courage gives them hope for a different future. Despite dangerous political opposition, the team goes on to participate in international competitions around the world, inspiring a movement that could transform their nation forever.

Based on a remarkable true story, Rule Breakers is an inspiring drama written and directed by two-time Oscar-winning American documentarian Bill Guttentag. Presented In English.
