In 1978 Barcelona, when the city’s marginalised immigrant neighbourhood of Torre Baró is denied a desperately needed public bus line, bus driver Manolo Vital (Eduard Fernández) decides to take matters into his own hands. In a brazen act of protest, he 'hijacks' the number 47 bus – the one he drives – to debunk City Council’s claims that their buses cannot climb the unpaved, uphill streets of the community. What begins as a solitary act of frustration quickly morphs into a symbol of resistance and a demand for dignity, igniting a popular movement.
