Beginning with his birth in 1924 as the son of Armenian immigrants, the film chronicles Aznavour's tireless journey through the vibrant cabaret scenes of 1950s Paris, his growth as a lyricist and composer, and his eventual rise to become one of the most celebrated Francophone artists worldwide. Beautifully recreating the Parisian atmosphere of the era, the lavishly-mounted production also highlights the crucial influence of Aznavour’s relationships with his peers, most notably with Édith Piaf (Marie-Julie Baup).
