When an accident leaves a police officer and his canine partner in critical condition, doctors decide to combine the surviving parts of both to create the heroic Dog Man – part man, part dog, all hero! Sworn to protect and serve (and maybe chase a few squirrels), Dog Man must strive to impress his Chief while foiling hilariously evil supervillain Petey the Cat and his dastardly schemes.
This is a frenzied, funny and relentlessly paced film packed with glorious animation, sight gags and an anarchic energy which accurately translates Dav Pilkey’s immensely popular book series for the big screen. Dog Man won’t be the best – or even second best – animated film about anthropomorphic animals this season (see: Flow, Robot Dreams), but it might be the most entertaining for all ages.

Finally ready to venture back into the dating world, widowed mother Violet (Meghann Fahy) meets charming photographer Henry (Brandon Sklenar) for dinner at a fancy high-rise restaurant. But the evening takes a terrifying turn when Violet begins receiving threatening ‘Digi-Drops’ (Apple’s AirDrop function minus the trademark) from an unknown sender within a 50-foot radius. Trapped and terrorised, she’s forced to play a deadly game: obey the sender’s increasingly sinister instructions or her son will die. As the night unfolds, Violet must uncover the identity of her tormentor, with every patron in the restaurant a potential suspect.
Drop offers a suspenseful and modern twist on a classic Hitchcockian scenario. Aided by a grounded performance from Fahy, director Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day) employs every trick in the book for this stylish, lean and tremendously entertaining thriller.
