Transferred from juvenile detention to the harsh reality of adult prison, 18-year-old Mel (Vincent Miller) finds himself befriended by Warren (Guy Pearce), a fellow inmate nearing parole. Warren has an ulterior motive, however: he intends to recruit Mel to kill Mark Shepard (Cosmo Jarvis), one of Australia’s most notorious criminals. Torn between pseudo-paternal relationship with both men, Mel must make an impossible choice – while contending with the possibility that even the darkest souls may harbour a flicker of good.

Newcomer Miller, stalwart Pearce, and Jarvis, best known for his role in TV’s Shōgun, all deliver remarkable performances that will have you on the edge of your seat. And though beautifully shot, Inside doesn’t have a trace of sentimentality; it is an intense, ugly and thought-provoking prison drama, warts and all.
