Grief stricken following the brutal murder of her mother, young Carmen (Melissa Barrera) is forced to flee her home in the Mexican desert. Surviving a dangerous illegal border crossing into the U.S., she finds herself ambushed by a lawless border officer – and just as unexpectedly rescued by fellow patrol guard and ex-Marine, Aidan (Paul Mescal). Forced to escape together, the unlikely duo begin to make their way north towards Los Angeles in search of sanctuary.
