The Franklin campaign in the 1980s to save a world heritage listed national park from being destroyed by a huge hydroelectric dam project is widely considered the most significant and effective environmental protest in Australia's history. This documentary follows eighth-generation Tasmanian and environmentalist Oliver Cassidy down the beautiful and remote Franklin River as he retraces his late father's 14-day rafting expedition to attend the blockade over four decades prior. Directed and co-written by Kasimir Burgess (The Leunig Fragments), Franklin features never-before-seen archival footage and interviews with key players such as Bob Brown and Uncle Jim Everett.

Narrated by Hugo Weaving, Franklin blends nature photography and historical documentary with a personal odyssey of healing and adventure. Whether you want to relive the inspiring and heady times of the Franklin blockade, or finally see what your parents have been banging on about, come down the Franklin with us.
