When she miraculously gains some respite from her dementia, June (Noni Hazlehurst) re-enters the lives of her adult children, Ginny (Claudia Karvan) and Devon (Stephen Curry). Learning that “things haven’t gone according to plan” for them, she decides it’s up to her to put everyone back on track. When her meddling backfires, however, June sets off on a romantic journey of her own, only to find herself needing help from the very people she sought to rescue.
Featuring a finely tuned performance by Noni Hazlehurst, June Again takes a poignant approach to the difficult topic of dementia, that is at the same time quite upbeat and heartwarming. If last season’s screenings of The Father and Supernova left you bruised and deflated, then perhaps you need to come back and spend some time with June, again.
