Giant ape Kong has been living a peaceful life on Skull Island for years, being monitored by the mysterious Monarch organisation. When a group of scientists undertake a perilous journey to return him to his true home, they unexpectedly find themselves in the path of an enraged Godzilla, who has been cutting an unexplained swath of a destruction across the globe.

The collision reignites an ancient rivalry between the two titans, setting the stage for a spectacular battle for the ages. With unseen forces at play, and the fate of the entire world hanging in the balance, the scientists must attempt to unearth clues to the creatures' origins and solve a mystery that lies deep within the core of the Earth.
