** PRESENTED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE HIGH COMMISSION OF INDIA **
After a mission gone wrong in 2010, two scientists – Tara (Vidya Balan) and Rakesh (Akshay Kumar) – are re-assigned to a dead-end job at the Indian Space Research Organisation. This is the story of their redemption as they lead a group of similar outcasts within their agency to plan and execute India’s first mission to send a probe to Mars.
Bollywood films have changed a lot over the past three decades, but one constant is their willingness to wear their heart on their sleeve. May this never change. This story, which Hollywood would have a hard time not muddying with cynicism, is irresistible, right up to its frankly ludicrous conclusion. And it would hard to ask for better leads in an unashamed crowd-pleaser: Kumar is one of the most charismatic actors in India – or anywhere – and it’s equally hard not to love Balan.
