This blend of live action and CGI animation is (believe it or not) the very first feature adaptation of Beatrix Potter’s classic tale that has captivated generations of readers ever since the first in the series, “The Tale of Peter Rabbit”, was published in 1902.

A mischievous and adventurous rabbit named Peter (voiced by Corden) – along with his sisters, Flopsy (Robbie), Mopsy (Elizabeth Debicki) and Cotton-tail (Daisy Ridley) – enjoy eating in the local farmer’s vegetable garden. All’s well and good until a new property owner by the name of Mr. McGregor (Gleeson) arrives and is none too please with the state of his garden. He views rabbits as nothing more than pests and is determined to use any method necessary to keep the wildlife out.

Peter, a very determined rabbit, enlists the help of the local creatures to try and outwit McGregor. Complicating matters even further is an animal-loving neighbour (Byrne) who attracts the eye of both Peter and McGregor, who must pretend to love the rabbits to keep up appearances while attempting to get rid of them at every opportunity.

A great bit of entertainment for kids, young and old, and for anyone with fond memories of Beatrix Potter’s beloved books.

James (Mooney) is a twenty-something man-child sheltered from the outside world, living with his parents, Ted (Hamill) and Louise (Michaela Watkins), in an underground shelter. His only entertainment for as long as he can remember has been a low-budget TV show named “Brigsby Bear” and its goofy morality tales.

Before long, however, James discovers that the show – and his entire existence – is not what it appears to be, leading him to embark on a mission to save his childhood by creating his own version of “Brigsby Bear”.

In addition to his iconic role as Luke Skywalker, Mark Hamill has had a solid career in independent films and a tremendously successful voice acting legacy, with nearly 200 such credits to his name across films, TV, video games, audiobooks and beyond – most notably as The Joker, a role he has voiced for 25 years and counting! Here, Hamill is perfectly cast here as James’s charismatic father, a role which also cleverly leverages his tremendous voiceover talent for the voices used within the surreal and wacky TV show.

Although there are some dark themes lurking below the surface, Brigsby Bear is a sweet and whimsical examination of pop culture obsession, courtesy of some of the brightest and best new masterminds from TV’s own pop culture launchpad, “Saturday Night Live”.
