This week at the ANU Film Group, you can jump into action with an AMERICAN ASSASSIN, visit a Danish COMMUNE, and then end the week with two well-matched double features. On Friday, enjoy the company of unlikely friendships with VICTORIA & ABDUL and LOST IN TRANSLATION. Then, on Saturday, explore two visually spectacular fantasy worlds in VALERIAN and A MONSTER CALLS.

• TUE 24 OCT @ 7:30 PM: THE COMMUNE

** Presented in partnership with the Embassy of Denmark **

• THU 26 OCT @ 7:30 PM: AMERICAN ASSASSIN

After the death of his girlfriend at the hands of terrorists, a revenge-seeking young man (Dylan O’Brien) is drawn into the world of counter-terrorism when he is enlisted by the CIA and placed under the command of a Cold War veteran (Michael Keaton) to stop a former operative intent on starting a world war.

• FRI 27 OCT @ 7:30 PM: VICTORIA & ABDUL + LOST IN TRANSLATION

In the later years of her reign, Queen Victoria (Judi Dench) meets an Indian clerk (Ali Fazal) when he travels to England for her Golden Jubilee. Then, in the acclaimed and Oscar-winning LOST IN TRANSLATION (at approx. 9:30 PM), a faded movie star (Bill Murray) and a neglected young woman (Scarlett Johansson) form an unlikely bond after crossing paths in Tokyo. Directed by Sofia Coppola.

Directed by Luc Besson (THE FIFTH ELEMENT).

Then, in the visually spectacular A MONSTER CALLS (at approx. 9:30 PM), a bullied young boy finds an unlikely ally when a tree monster appears at his bedroom window one night, and aids him in coping with his mother’s terminal illness. Starring Felicity Jones, Sigourney Weaver and Liam Neeson.
