Semester Two Begins + EFTPOS Now Available

22nd July, 2015

You asked for it, so here it is… we’re very pleased to announce that we will now be taking card payments at all screenings starting from this week onwards!

From this week, the ANU Film Group will be introducing an EFTPOS service in an effort to make joining up and paying for membership fees easier for our members. In addition to our usual cash payment option, we will now also be able to take Visa, Mastercard, and EFTPOS payments at the door for the very first time.

In order to offset the costs associated with providing this service, and to keep membership costs down, all card payments will incur a 2.9% surcharge.

This service will be available throughout Semester Two 2015 strictly on a trial basis, and will be reviewed at the end of the year.

WHAT’S ON THIS WEEK
................................................................

We kick off our first week of screenings of Semester Two with an Australian premiere, an earthquake, unrest in Ireland, acapella groups, and little yellow Minions (though thankfully not all in the same movie)!

• Thu 23 July @ 7:30 PM: SAN ANDREAS

Break ground on our new programme with this disaster action film, in which a rescue helicopter pilot (Dwayne Johnson) travels across California in the aftermath of a massive earthquake to rescue his daughter.

• Fri 24 July @ 7:30 PM: CHILD 44 + ‘71

In CHILD 44, a military police officer (Tom Hardy) in Cold War Russia sets out to investigate a series of child murders against the strict orders of his superiors. Also starring Gary Oldman and Noomi Rapace. OUR EXCLUSIVE AUSTRALIAN PREMIERE SCREENING!

Then, in ‘71 (at approx. 9:45 PM), a young British soldier (Jack O’Connell) is accidentally abandoned by his unit following a riot in Ireland in 1971, and must survive the night out on the deadly streets alone.

• Sat 25 July @ **7 PM**: MINIONS + PITCH PERFECT 2

In MINIONS, Kevin, Stuart, and Bob venture off into the world to find a new evil master for their fellow Minions to serve, a journey that leads them to 1960s New York and Scarlet Overkill, the world’s first female supervillain!

Then, in PITCH PERFECT 2 (at approx. 8:30 PM), after a humiliating public performance, the Barden Bellas enter into an international acapella competition in an attempt to regain their status. Starring Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson.

ANNUAL TRIVIA NIGHT – TICKETS NOW ON SALE
................................................................

Mark your calendars – our 9th Annual Trivia Night is coming up in just over a month’s time on FRIDAY 28 AUGUST. If you’ve ever attended one of our Trivia Nights, you’ll know that it’s a night unlike any other. And if you’ve never been to one, you’re definitely missing out!

WHEN: Friday 28 August @ 7:30 PM
WHERE: Ainslie Football Club, 52 Wakefield Avenue, Ainslie

Featuring a range of individual Q&A, audio-visual and table rounds on all things movies and beyond, our Trivia Night is open to all members and non-members alike. In fact, you don’t even need to be a film buff, as we always ensure we have questions for everyone.

It’s heaps of fun, with great prizes up for grabs, but most importantly, the Trivia Night is also our major fundraiser for the year, so any support you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Tickets are $20 a person, which includes light finger food on the night. Tables of up to 10 are available for pre-purchasing, and tickets are on sale starting THIS WEEK from the laminating desk below the screen at all screenings. You can also purchase yours online by emailing info@anufg.org.au to arrange a direct deposit payment.
