After starring in his first-ever flop two years ago with After Earth, Will Smith is back with a vengeance to reclaim his status as the world’s most bankable star. And his latest, Focus, is as good a film as any to make a comeback with.

Smith plays Nicky, a master of misdirection who meets Jess (Robbie) and immediately takes a liking to her. Not just because she’s attractive, but also out of professional curiosity because she, too, is a con artist (albeit not a very good one). Nicky decides to take her under his wing and teach her the tricks of the trade, but when Jess gets too close for comfort, he abruptly breaks it off and disappears.

Cut to three years later and Nicky is working a high-stakes scam in Buenos Aires. When he discovers that Jess is now an accomplished grifter in her own right and has her eyes set on the same target, his plans are thrown for a loop and the former lovers caught in the midst of a dangerous scheme…

Will they get out alive? Will they end up together? Does anyone have Margot Robbie’s phone number?

For the answers to all (or maybe just some) of these questions, you won’t want to miss this. Besides being a thoroughly enjoyable romance/crime/comedy/drama romp starring two supernaturally charismatic leads, the film is also the latest from the writer-director duo responsible for two of the most endearing and clever love stories in recent years: I Love You Phillip Morris and Crazy, Stupid, Love. Now you can add Focus to the list.
